The agricultural sciences is remained mostly un touched by researchers. There are certain reasons for this, like most of the ancient texts are philosophical and religious and also scientific (but in encoded form) , hence sorting out techniques adopted by ancient Indians towards agriculture is a tough task. Dominantly, India was an agriculture based country and for sure, the supreme decision maker was Mansoon.
Most of the crops grown seems like Mansoon type crops. The Monsoon crops of cotton, cane sugar, and rice were grown in the Indus Valley.
We are indeed needed to research farming techniques, crop production and distribution, and also their safety measures etc.
Besides, the irrigation facilities are needed to be sorted out.

Dear friends,
How many people know about PARASHARA KRISHISUTRA, KRISHI PRASHARA, UPAVANAVINODA etc? There are different techniques to do farming told in our ancient scriptures. But the problem is most of the farmers do not listen what we say. They will do on thier own. They will imitate others to make quick money.
I want to mention that, in past 3 weeks ago, there was a news publised in Prajavani, Vijayakarnataka - the kannada new papers in Karnataka, & even it had been broadcasted in TV9-Kannada also that, in Karnatak near northern side, a farmer had planted a wind-mill using the available instruments. He had just bought 3-4 zinc-sheets & slanted them like a fan & fixed it in his farm. & he ahd fixed one big wheel & a small wheel to increase the RPM rate. He is having a small melting, heating tools in his home & he had connected a battery to adjusant to the inverter. & hgave connections all parts of his home. When voltage comes down, householders themselves dont use the current.
Here how many farmer s have installed this type of wind-mill in their farms? How many farmers are listening to the village elders? How many village elders are guiding the farmers properly? So, these types many crisis are going on here & there all over India. Thats y, although we may have croes of cores of acres of farm lands, we could not fullfill the quantity of the food of our nation.
So please try to implement the systems told in our ancient scriptures...
